AESA flight complaint in Spain

A practical guide to preparing the evidence and wording before escalating a Spain-related flight delay, cancellation or denied boarding problem.

Safe CostaSure add-on: flight delay, cancellation, refund and rerouting issues are included as a supporting Spain-travel category. CostaSure helps organise first-stage evidence, complaint wording and escalation preparation.

CostaSure is not positioned as a flight compensation claims company and does not promise a compensation outcome. For the main CostaSure complaint areas, see all complaint categories.

When AESA may be relevant

AESA may be relevant for certain Spain-related flight issues, including cancellation, delay of 3 hours or more, flights moved forward by more than one hour, denied boarding without justified reason, downgrade/change of class and certain reduced-mobility passenger-rights issues.

The usual route is to complain to the airline first. If the airline does not respond within the relevant period, or the answer is not satisfactory, AESA may be the next escalation route where Spain is the competent authority.

Documents to prepare

  • Copy of the prior complaint to the airline
  • Airline response, if received
  • Boarding pass, ticket or transport contract
  • Passenger ID/passport copy where required
  • Representative authorisation, if someone else complains for the passenger
  • Receipts for meals, hotel, transport, calls or rerouting costs

What CostaSure can help organise

  • Chronology of the disruption
  • Airline explanation and whether it is too vague
  • Evidence gaps before escalation
  • Refund, rerouting and care requests
  • First complaint wording to the airline
  • AESA escalation wording where appropriate
